FIELD: rolling equipment, rolling mill spindle is used in rolling mills main drive lines, for example, in blanks lines, solid rolled shapes lines, pipe-rolling lines under strict requirements to spindle couplings length. SUBSTANCE: aim is to reduce axial dimension of spindle. Heads 2 and 3 are located at ends of spindle shaft 1. Each head has hinge part 8 and coupling parts. Coupling parts have grooves correspondingly for location of operational roll and spindle shaft tail ends. Distinguished feature of the design is that cross-section of groove for operational roll tail end is bigger than cross-section of spindle shaft tail end. To take up clearances and to move heads spindle shaft has spring 11. Heads fixation in definite position is exercised by fixers 12. It allows during repairs or rolls changing operations to move heads in direction of spindle shaft so, that its tail end enters groove for operational roll tail end without any difficulties.
