FIELD: magnetic materials. SUBSTANCE: in order to increase magnetic capacity of constant magnets used in electric industry, electronic and instrumentation engineering and to simplify their manufacturing process, rare-earth metal alloy is hydrogenated by hydrogen released from alloy. Such technique allows reducing hydrogen pressure in hydrogenation process to 1-25 atm. Prepared powder is then compacted with binders or without them. In the latter case, sintering in argon or hydrogen released from alloy is performed. To this end, hydrogenation is followed by desorption of hydrogen from alloy to 50-95% extent. Oxidation of powder is prevented by treating it with carbon monoxide under pressure 1-20 atm. Uniformity of powder is improved by performing its post-disintegration and magnetic separation. Manufactured are constant magnets from SmCo5 compound with power 190 kJ/cu.m and from compound, and also composite constant magnets from dispersion-hardening alloys with power 140 kJ/cu.m.
