FIELD: methods of producing b-sialon of common formula Si6-0.75xAl0.67xOxN8-x which can be used as ceramic material in different fields of science and technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves sintering a mixture of powders of silicon nitride, aluminium nitride and aluminium oxide in nitrogen medium at a temperature of 1750-1850 degrees C at first step and then at temperature of 1100-1200 degrees C and under pressure of 3.0-5.0 GPA at a second step. EFFECT: enhanced yield of signal-phase product at x=2, reduced synthesis time up to 60 min with absolute absence of admixture phases.
