FIELD: SHF technology. SUBSTANCE: level of power P1 of noise signal across output of reference amplifier matched by input, level of power P2 of noise signal across output of load matched to ambient temperature, level of power P3 of noise signal across output of investigated four-terminal network when noise signal is fed from reference amplifier matched by input to its input and level of power P4 of noise signal across output of investigated four-terminal network matched by input are measured in predetermined bandwidth. Relation γ = (P3-P4)/(P1-P2) is determined and induced attenuation α or amplification factor Ky of investigated four-terminal network are found from expression α = α2/α1β·γ rel. units; Ky= α1β,γ/α2, rel. units, where α1 and α2 are induced attenuation of path from reference amplifier to input of meter of power of noise signal correspondingly, rel. units; β is induced attenuation of path from output of investigated four-terminal network to input of meter of power of noise signal, rel. units. EFFECT: expanded application field up to measurement of small and great attenuations and amplification factors within frequency range over 78.33 GHz while keeping high measurement precision. 1 dwg
