FIELD: catalytic chemistry, more particularly catalyst for the aromatization of C3-C12-hydrocarbons. SUBSTANCE: the catalyst comprises (wt): 45-80 ZSM-5 or ZSM-11 type zeolite; 1.0-5.0 zinc and/or gallium with promoter; 0.05-0.8 sulfur; up to 100 aluminium oxide. The promoter includes an element selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, chromium, fluorine, boron or tungsten at a zinc and/or gallium to promoter weight ratio of (90:1) to (1:3). The yield of aromatic hydrocarbons in the presence of said catalyst does not substantially decrease for 100 hours of service life, whereas the yield decreases by 8 to 11 in the presence of the prior art catalyst. EFFECT: improved catalyst stability. 2 cl, 1 tbl
