METHOD OF CONTROL OF ENERGY OF CHARGED PARTICLES IN LINEAR RESONANCE ACCELERATOR Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: acceleration equipment. SUBSTANCE: method relates to control of energy in linear resonance accelerator having n drift tubes and is accomplished by excitation of deflecting field in one intermediate k-th drift tube to provide for extraction of particles from acceleration zone. At same time working frequency of accelerating field is measured in range fo-fo± Δf/n and number k of drift tube is chosen in compliance with expression K=n(Wk/Wn), where n=1, 2 ...k ..., Wk is required energy of extracted particles, eV, Wn is final energy of particles at output of resonator. Such operating condition makes it possible to split wide range of energy retuning Wo-Wo± ΔW± into comparatively small intervals Wo-Wo ± ΔW/n with preservation of autogeneration mode. EFFECT: expanded range of control over energy of accelerated particles. 2 dwg
