FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of increasing beam current in a linear accelerator with asymmetric phase-variable focusing and can be used in nuclear power engineering, radiation resistance of materials, in medicine, for example for treating oncological diseases by methods of hadron therapy. Method is realized by using a high-frequency electromagnetic oscillation resonator with a closed output, in which an electromagnetic standing wave H10 is used to accelerate charged particles. Periods of change of the equilibrium phase are determined by the peculiarities of change in time of the electric component of this wave. In periods of change of the equilibrium phase, acceleration, phasing and focusing of the beam of charged particles are carried out in electric centres with different equilibrium phases and amplitudes of the accelerating field that differ in the value of the electric component.

EFFECT: high efficiency of using the electric field for accelerating charged particles, as well as increased stability of the beam on the acceleration trajectory and increased current of the accelerated beam of charged particles with increase in the frequency of acts of focusing and phasing of the beam of charged particles with simultaneous reduction of the length of the periods of change in the equilibrium phase and the length of the drift tubes.
