FIELD: processes of cleaning gases from sulfur dioxide and sulfuric acid aerosol, being used in sulfuric acid production. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of passing moistened gas, containing sulfur dioxide, and sulfuric acid aerosol, through an electric field of diffused-three dimensional corona charge of positive polarity; passing the gas, being cleaned, with rate 1-8 m/s; lowering variable current density from 7,5 till 1,9 mA/m along direction of the gas movement. Electric field intensity 6,3-8,0 kV/cm. Degree of cleaning from sulfur dioxide 97,5-99% . Specific power consumption 0,001-0,003 kW for 11 nm3 of the gas. EFFECT: enhanced degree of cleaning of gases from sulfur dioxide, lowered energy consumption. 1 cl, 1 tbl
