FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: process includes feeding of metal into crystallizer, pulling of ingot out of it with variable speed, cooling of crystallizer with running water, feeding of metal to meniscus in crystallizer of slag mixture, setting of crystallizer into reciprocating motion, support and guidance of ingot with the aid of dummy and drive rollers, cooling of surface of ingot in zone of secondary cooling with coolant sprayed by nozzles mounted between rollers, change of specific flow rate of coolant along zone of secondary cooling from maximum value beneath crystallizer up to minimum value in end of cooling zone, detection of flaws on surfaces and in structure of ingots. In process of continuous casting check of flaws of ingots is carried out after zone of secondary cooling and with appearance of flaws in amount of 0.2-10.0 flaws/sq.m of surface of ingot over its perimeter and thickness flow of cooling water in crystallizer is reduced by 2 to 20% of working value, with amount of flaws exceeding 10 flaws/sq.m process of casting is stopped.
