FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to quantum electronics. The disclosed method of obtaining radiation from pulsed atmospheric pressure CO2 laser involves applying voltage across electrodes mounted in a working chamber filled with working mixture and having a shutter for outlet of radiation, and subsequent opening of the shutter. Voltage is applied across the electrodes with density of the working mixture of the laser equal to the density of the ambient medium. Concentration of the component of the working mixture of the laser - carbon dioxide gas (CO2), nitrogen (N2), helium (He), argon (Ar) and water (H2O) in the laser mixture satisfies the following relationships: 12%<[CO2]<13.1%, 77.7%<[N2]<80%, 5.2%<[He]<6%, 2.6%<[Ar]<2.9% and 0.2%<[H2O]<0.3%.
EFFECT: low divergence of radiation.
