SUBSTANCE: method involves the steps of: scanning an article to be tested by rotating it around the axis such that a beam moves laterally at a speed providing a distance between entry points of ≅0.5 0.5 the ultrasonic beam width and sounding all the article perimeter points at angles of 0-90 degrees in increments of not more than 7 degrees.
