FIELD: handling equipment. SUBSTANCE: when manipulator is set in a working position grippers of a gripping mechanism clamp the support of a contact system. The inner grippers are checked for upper positioning at the lower grippers. The support of the contact system is held only by the inner grippers, after this the outer grippers are opened, and the inner grippers are lowered together with the support along guides until they rest against the lower grippers. Then the outer grippers are closed, and the inner ones are opened and move along the guides up but without the support of the contact system until they rest against the upper outer grippers. The inner grippers are closed, the outer grippers are opened, and the inner grippers again move the support of the contact system down. EFFECT: improved structure. 3 dwg
