FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: inorganic metal-oxide films are applied on the glass surface by thermal decomposition of metal carbonyl vapors in vacuum chamber. Decomposition of metal carbonyl vapors is carried out at the rate of film application 0.05-0.5 micron/min. Glass temperature is above that of intensive carbonyl decomposition but below of that of glass deformation temperature. Oxidizing agent is fed simultaneously or at later time. Rate of oxidizing agent feeding is 5-20 l/h per 1 1 dm2 of glass surface. Film thickness and ratio of metallic and oxide phase in it provide required optical glass properties. Method is used for heat-sun- protective and decorative glasses making. EFFECT: improved method of film making. 1 tbl
