FIELD: measuring technology. SUBSTANCE: impulse method for measuring thickness, where radiator and receiver are located from opposite sides of rolled plate and the time moment of appearance of the formed strobing pulse depends on running thickness of the rolled plate and selection is performed using the strobing pulse of the second passing pulse by measurement of the time moment of arrival of the first passing pulse over the additional acoustic channel located outside inspection zone, is supplemented by determination of distances between the radiator and receiver respectively in water and article being measured. Then the difference between the time of arrival of the first pulse passing through water and through article being checked is measured. The second passing pulse is measured at the time moment spaced from the time of arrival of the first passing pulse the value determined by formula. The thickness of the rolled plate is estimated from the formula presented in the description of the claimed invention. EFFECT: higher trustworthiness of thickness measurement. 5 dwg
