FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: preliminary ground blades, on which various surface defects are eliminated, are coated with a three-layer wear-resistant ion-vacuum protective coating of titanium and metal nitrides. The first layer adjoining the blade back and serving as the energy-absorbing substrate is obtained as a result of combined deposition by spraying of titanium and titanium nitride in rarefied atmosphere in a mixture of argon and nitrogen at an even increase in time of nitrogen concentration in a chamber. The second intermediate wear-resistant layer is obtained as a result of deposition by spraying of titanium nitride in rarefied atmosphere of practically pure nitrogen. The third surface layer, intended for protection of titanium nitride against embrittlement, is obtained by combined deposition by spraying of titanium and titanium nitride in rarefied atmosphere in a mixture of argon and nitrogen at an even increase in time of nitrogen concentration in a chamber.
