FIELD: air permeable barrier materials. SUBSTANCE: barrier material is made of porous substrate containing modifying agent particles in its pores. Particles of modifying agent are contained selectively in larger pores which are transport pores. Modifying agent consists of particles with average size less than 1/3 of maximum size of substrate pores. Method for production of this material includes maintenance of preset pressure differential on substrate, creation by this pressure differential of air current through substrate, and treating porous substrate from the side of higher pressure with suspension, or dispersion, or aerosol of modifying agent. Porous substrate is treated at current flow not in excess of 0.35 cu.dm/min.sq.cm. To keep particles of modifying agent in porous substrate use is made of adhesive substance.
