FIELD: mechanical engineering; settlement of waster waters to free them from suspended undesired matter. SUBSTANCE: thin-bed settler incorporates housing, thin-bed module made in the form of inclined tubular members, chute to admit water to be refined, inclined semi-immersed partition, purified water chute, and sediment discharge pipe. Tubular members are located inside inclined framework and rear wall of housing is made inclined. In front portion of housing, inclined semi-immersed partition makes up flocculating chamber. Waste water to be refined is allowed to flow via chute to enter flocculating chamber where suspended particles are allowed to agglomerate, flows under semi-immersed partition and parted into laminar flows to then enter tubular members where suspension is divided into solid and liquid phases. Sediment agglomerates by gravity at bottom and purified water is admitted into chute. Sediment is then discharged through pipe disposed under module in first third of its length. Whenever need arises, framework and thin-bed module can be easily withdrawn from housing with use of ordinary hoists which are also employed for repositioning framework and module in their proper places. EFFECT: disclosed new settler is compact, easy-to-manufacture and simple- and convenient-to-service; it may find application in chemical industry, metallurgy and other trades. 4 cl, 4 dwg
