FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves charge melting, superheating of melt up to 1600-1700 C, exposition for 1-15 min, melt cooling up to 1450-1600 C, and modifying agent addition. The latter has a mixture of chrome oxide powder with silicocalcium and calcium fluoride powders at the following ratio of components, wt.-%: chrome oxide 10-35; calcium fluoride 5-30; silicocalcium - the rest. Melt pouring is carried out at 1400-1450 C, and chrome oxide powder is utilized at concentration 0.03-0.30% of charge mass. EFFECT: improved method of ingot making. 1 tbl
