FIELD: winding of fibrous materials in manufacture of optic cables. SUBSTANCE: device comprises service reel 1 and magnetic field inductor consisting magnetic core 4, winding 3 and airs gap 5. Air gap is formed by two coaxial tapered surfaces whose axes are in line with axis of service reel and is filled with viscous magnetic material. Being wound off the reel, the thread moves along said air gap. Resistance to motion and tension of thread are determined, respectively, by viscosity of the material which is positively connected with field intensity in air gap which is controlled by current flowing through the winding.
