FIELD: disinfection of drinking water, waste water, sterilization of air in operating rooms, shops where smelling processes are conducted, rooms where mercury vapor is present production employing oxidation processes, preservation and storage of foods, etc. SUBSTANCE: ozone generator is provided with at least one pair of electrodes connected to high-voltage source which are mounted on or above the surface of dielectric gasket located on solid or screened base electrode; one of electrodes of the pair mounted on or above the surface of dielectric gasket is connected with the electrode of the base; relationship of magnitude of relative dielectric permittivity to thickness of gasket is equal to or more than 10 mm-1; besides that, pair of electrodes mounted on or above the surface of dielectric gasket are connected to each other only; relationship of relative dielectric permittivity to gasket thickness is equal to or more than 15 15 mm-1; besides that, one or both electrodes of the pair is made in form of flexible conductor wound in form of grate in cylindrical or plane geometry; pair of electrodes mounted on or above the surface of dielectric gasket are made in form of screen, for example, with round holes connected by passages in direction of blowing the gas; depth of passages is less than thickness of the screen; dielectric gasket and base electrode are made in form of metallized dielectric film and electrodes of the pair are made in form of screen of conducting material.
