FIELD: tungsten containing natural or scrap materials processing. SUBSTANCE: material breakdown is performed with sodium (potassium) containing agent by the method of self-distributing high temperature synthesis. This method is based on the use of powerful exothermic reaction of interaction between carbon containing material and sodium (potassium) nitrate. Endothermic reaction of interaction between oxide materials and soda is used as a inhibitor. Charge blending for self-distributing high temperature synthesis comprises processes of crushing and mixing components in the relation as follows: carbidized tungsten containing material and/or carbon containing agent with carbon oxidized within (+2) to (-4), and sodium or potassium nitrates with 1:(0.6 - 2) mass relation as exothermic part of the charge. Oxidized tungsten containing material and/or agent containing metal oxides, and soda with 1: (0.4 to 1.4) mass relation are used as inhibitor. Exothermic charge part and inhibitor are mixed as 1:(0.3 to 1). EFFECT: 90 to 98 per cent of extracted tungsten when used this method. 3 tbl
