FIELD: foundry practice. SUBSTANCE: metal refined by the electro-slag technique and accumulated in a container is modified with the aid of refractory compounds such as borides, nitrides, carbides, carbonitrides and oxides added as finely-dispersed powders in an amount between 0.005 and 0.5 per cent by mass of the melt. The pouring into the mould is accomplished by squeezing the metal in a metered amount equalling the volume of casting plus 1/3 to 1/2 of the volume of the feeder head. The rest of the feeder head is filled with slag. The pouring is accomplished under a pressure and at a temperature within the solidification range. EFFECT: quality castings. 2 cl, 1 tbl
