FIELD: application of wear-resistant coatings. SUBSTANCE: protective coating containing layers of amorphous carbon with a diamond type of atomic bond alternating with layers of some other material located on the layer of carbide-forming metal, applied to the measuring tool working surface, is applied to the measuring tool working surface; the layer of amorphous carbon serves as the external layer, intermediate layers of another material are made of a composite material, 0.1 to 0.2 μm thick, consisting of 60 to 90% of amorphous carbon with a diamond type of atomic bond, and 10 to 40% of metal carbide. The layer of amorphous carbon with a diamond type of atomic bond is 0.5 to 1.0 μm thick, the layer of carbide-forming metal is 0.1 to 0.3 μm thick, and the total thickness of the layer is 2.0 to 5.0 μm. EFFECT: enhanced durability and wear resistance of measuring tools, for example, gauges. 1 dwg
