FIELD: measuring equipment. SUBSTANCE: excess pressure is created in a tank to be measured. A source of pressure is then cut off, varying of pressure with time is measured, and time constant is calculated. The tank to be measured is connected to the reference tank providing free flowing of gas. The time constant for the system consisting of the measured and reference tanks is measured. Volume of the tank is determined by time constants of the measured tank and the system. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy. 3 cl, 1 dwg
