FIELD: metallurgy and mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method of ultrasonic flaw detection of cylindrical articles involves the steps of: exciting an ultrasonic wave impulse in an article to be tested, providing multiple pass of this impulse along the perimeter of cross- section, discriminating in a predetermined time interval energy of acoustic impulses passed along the perimeter of cross-section and not reflected from a flaw, comparing this value with the total energy received within this time interval, deriving the information on the presence of flaw and its dimensions and on the state of acoustic contact from the ratio of these energies. The time interval within which analysis of article for the presence of flaws is carried out is selected from expression Tи> 2To where Tи is a time interval within which analysis of the article for the presence of flaws is carried out, Tо is time of single run of acoustic impulse along the perimeter of article cross-section. EFFECT: enhanced sensitivity, noise proofness. 1 dwg
