FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves presentation of control process as path on phase diagram in offset-equilibrium-offset axes. Equilibrium offset as function of position of absorbing rods is determined before start of reactor run and current values of offset and equilibrium offset are found in the course of reactor operation. Then current point of phase path is constructed on diagram and control action (displacement of rods within reactor core) is set proceeding from position of current point relative to points of equilibrium states and boundary of admissible region on diagram.
