FIELD: building materials industry. SUBSTANCE: the paste for a protective coating comprises a phosphate binder is a calcium- zinc-phosphate-nitrate-borate binder and the filler comprises microtalc and kaolin and further comprises a ferric oxide pigment, the ratio of the components being as follows (wt % ): 15-25 a calcium-zinc-phosphate-nitrate-borate binder; 18-24 microtalc; 4-8 kaolin; 1-3.5 a surface active agent; 16-28 a ferric oxide pigment; and water, the balance. The process for preparing the paste comprises dosing, stirring and grinding the components. The physical and chemical properties of the coating: shock strength 40-50 kgf/cm; adhesion 1-2 points; flexibility 1-2 mm. EFFECT: improved properties of the coating. 2 tbl
