FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method for steel making in converter includes top oxygen lancing through lance and Blowing through bottom tuyeres with neutral gas during the entire heat, supply to melt of slag forming additions and coolers, determination of chemical composition of melt, pouring of melt into teeming ladle and supply of deoxidizers to it. When preset content of carbon is attained, top lancing during discharge of converter is discontinued, and added to melt is carbon-containing material - coke in the amount of 0.005-0.200% of melt mass in converter. Then, supplied through bottom tuyeres to melt is neutral gas for 1.5-10.00 min with its increased flow rate determined by relationship V=(0.5-4.0)(0.1/C-0.2), where V is neutral gas flow, cu.m/t of melt; C is content of carbon after completion of lancing, %; (0.5-4.0) is empirical coefficient considering law of removal of carbon dioxide by neutral gas bubbles, cu.m/t of melt; 0.1 is empirical coefficient considering law of distribution of carbon-containing material in melt, %; 0.2 is empirical coefficient considering law of formation of carbon oxides in melt, dimensionless.
