FIELD: methods of purification. SUBSTANCE: gas is passed through catalyst which represents pure titanium dioxide, or titanium dioxide containing 1-20 mass % of calcium, or strontium, or barium sulfates. The process is carried out at 250-350 C, it is followed by cooling gas. Thus prepared gas is then treated at 100-160 C to produce elementary sulfur, mass ratio H2S : SO2 being 2:1.
