FIELD: scrubbing of gases. SUBSTANCE: method is carried out by desulfurization of origin mixture. Mixture which contains low concentrations of H2S and SO2 at their molar ratio about 2:1 is brought into contact with catalyst. Said contact takes place at temperature being lower than dew point of sulfur, preferably at 120-170 C. Mentioned above catalyst contains catalytic mass being prepared by interaction of aluminium oxide with at least one compound of metal which is chosen of titanium, lanthanum, yttrium and rare-earth elements having atomic number 58-71. EFFECT: improves efficiency of the method.
