FIELD: diagnosis of state of metals. SUBSTANCE: method includes determination of strength of structure which takes into account both corrosion processes leading to decrease of thickness of members of structures and change of mechanical properties of materials caused by appearance and spreading of cracks. Corrosion rate vк of metal structure is determined in N points. M samples of metal are taken mechanically in areas of maximum risk of injury of metal structure. Value and rate vΔ of shift of temperature dependence of characteristics of crack resistance are found for each sample. Change in time of maximum value of stress vк in areas of maximum risk of injury of metal structure is evaluated by value Smax(t). Change of critical value of stress vΔ causing destruction of metal structure is determined by value Sкр(t). Remaining operational life of metal structure is estimated by formula Δt = t1-t0, where t0 is moment of examination of metal structure, t1 is moment of time when Smax(t) = Sкр(t).
