Metal service period is evaluated from expression τ > S₁•t₁.. For more accurate measurement of τ, S₁ is measured for several values of tj ( j = 1, 2 ...). Curve showing lgSj as function of Lgtj is constructed and approximated by straight line which is interpolated up to its intersection with X-axis and service period lgτ is determined by τ intersection point.
