FIELD: measurements. SUBSTANCE: method involves several applications of samples of material to laser beams for each fixed value of electric field intensity E. Test starts from big values of E downward to smaller ones. Interval between start of each application till electric break in sample is measured. Function lgτ=f(E)=f(E) is recorded, and required limit for optical endurance of material is calculated as point of intersection of line of abscissa and asymptote of curve lgτ=f(E)-f(E) when τ → ∞.
