FIELD: nondestructive methods of analysis of materials by determination of their physical properties, specifically, ultimate strength. SUBSTANCE: invention can find use to detect flaws in material,. to evaluate residual resource and life of pressure vessels, pipe-lines and other parts and structures. It is also possible to employ this process for prediction of rock bursts and earthquakes. In correspondence with invention temperature dependence of ultimate strength of samples of material is determined and extrapolated linearly. In this case number of pulses of acoustic emission to break of sample is counted. Average time interval between such pulses in loaded material under its current temperature is measured as well as space of region of registration of pulses in this material. Safety margin of material is found by obtained information with use of proposed mathematical formula. EFFECT: expanded range of tested materials which safety margin can be determined by methods of nondestructive test. 2 dwg
