FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: isolation of indicated catalyst from reaction mass obtained by chlorination of ethylene with chlorine in the presence the same catalyst is performed by distillation of reaction mass under vacuum, and 1,2-dichloroethane is isolated. After distillation residue is treated with solvent - carbon tetrachloride taken at mass ratio to the residue 3-6:1 following by separation of high-chlorinated products together with carbon tetrachloride, crystallization of 1-(2-chloroethyl)-pyridinium tetrachloroferrate and its recovery to the head of process. EFFECT: prolonged catalyst exploitation, environment protection. 1 tbl
