FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: product: 1,3-dioxalane. Reagent 1: ethylene glycol. Reagent 2: formaldehyde (formalin, paraform, trioxane). Process is carried out in the presence of catalyst with acid property. Method involves continuous synthesis with simultaneous distillation off of formed products, concentration of prepared product by rectification method up to azeotropic composition. To increase the yield of 1,3-dioxalane and decrease consumption all parental ethylene glycol or its part is added by countercurrently to the current of products distilling off the reaction zone. Method is used in polymer synthesis. The yield is 98.9-99.2%. EFFECT: increased yield of product. 2 dwg, 2 tbl
