CONTINUOUS CASTING MOLD Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: casting production. SUBSTANCE: CONTINUOUS casting mold has a ring, rotating a horizontal axis and having rims and lengthwise partitions, placed along a generatrix. The partitions have seats, in which inserts with grooves for fitting are placed. In order to provide a simplified structure of the mold and to enhanced efficiency of the plant the seats in the above mentioned partitions are in the form of through openings, having at their both sides enlarged cone parts, and the inserts are in the form of double side valves with cone tips and they are mounted in the seats with provision of gaps in axial and radial directions and with possibility of sliding motion by their cone tips along the cone parts of the seats. Upon crystallization of a billet, being cast, by action of shrinkage efforts the fitting begging to move in the lengthwise and in the radial directions, displacing the inserts in the seats and preventing jamming of cast ingot at extracting from the mold.
