FIELD: digital cartography. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of image of cartographic material, identification of discrete, linear and are objects of locality, classification of locality objects by elements of content with registration of semantic information corresponding to them, taking of metric information on specified objects, processing of obtained information and input of information on each object into storage segment corresponding to class of given object. Preparation of image of cartographic material is carried out by formation of raster facsimile copies which number is not smaller than one. Each copy corresponds to one of colors of image. Taking of metric information on objects is conducted from each facsimile copy with extraction and subsequent removal of objects from this copy. Removal of discrete objects is performed by comparison of image of removed object with typical raster image corresponding to it. EFFECT: increased productivity in preparation of cartographic material.
