FIELD: manufacture of alkaline cells. SUBSTANCE: nickel powder having average size of particles 1.6-3.5 μm is mixed with binder, pore former is applied on both sides to porous belt-backing, is subjected to drying, to pressing in rollers and baking in hydrogen atmosphere at 1000-1250 C for the course of 3-6 min. Produced base has high mechanical strength, high porosity and small size of pores which provides for uniform distribution of active mass within volume of electrode and for improvement of conditions of flow of current-forming reaction and in the long run results in improvement of specified electric characteristics.
