FIELD: radio engineering, distance measurement. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to radio engineering means of distance measurement to sources of electromagnetic radiation, specifically, to devices of passive distance measurement of thunderstorm discharges between cloud and ground, predominantly for vertical polarization. It may also be used in meteorology for timely location of thunderstorms at ranges 300-1200 km. Increased accuracy of single-point range measurement is ensured by reception of electromagnetic signal by antenna, its amplification and filtration and check for correspondence of each of gradations of range to thunderstorm established beforehand. Range corresponding to maximum of output signal is assumed to be range to thunderstorm discharge. EFFECT: increased accuracy of single-point range measurement to thunderstorm. 2 cl, 3 dwg
