FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention deals with design of metal-halogen lamps of high intensity used in photochemical processes. It has quartz burner with tightly installed electrodes filled with gallium, lead and iodine. Xenon and magnesium are additionally injected into it under pressure 3-200 kPa. Molar concentrations of gallium, lead and magnesium amounts to (0.3-6.0); (0.02-4.5) and (0.2-4.0) micromole/cu.cm correspondingly. Molar proportion of amount of monatomic iodine to sum of quantities of gallium, lead and magnesium amounts to 1.1-1.8. EFFECT: enhanced operational reliability and efficiency. 1 tbl
