FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of obtaining vanadium pentoxide with increased content of a main component comprises steps of high temperature hydrolysis of vanadium containing solutions, separating liquid and solid phases, treating a deposit by solutions of sulfurous acid with (1-15)% concentration, subsequent washing out the deposit from ions of sulfur and melting it. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of such method at extracting vanadium from slag and other vanadium containing materials. 1 cl, 1 tbl
