FIELD: precious metal technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to recovering vanadium from slags and other vanadium-containing materials by firing, leaching, and precipitation and can be used in production of vanadium products. Reducing manganese level, reducing environmental pollution and preparing divanadium pentoxide with elevated content of main component is achieved owing to that (i) precipitate, prior to be finally washed, is subjected to washing by magnesium sulfate solution with magnesium ion concentration 2 to 7 g/l and (ii) volume of washing (V, cu.m) is determined from formula: V = 2KPV205NMnO, where K is inverse value of magnesium cation concentration in solution, g/l (for example, for Mg(II) concentration 5 g/l, K = 0.2); NMnO is ratio of initial concentration of manganese oxide in divanadium pentoxide to its required concentration in end product; and PV205 is weight of divanadium pentoxide subjected to washing, t. Treatment of concentrate according to proposed method allows obtaining produce with manganese level meeting requirements of International standard, which enables use of divanadium pentoxide for smelting low-manganese ferrovanadium and special alloys.
