FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: product: quinoline salt of the formula (I) 
 where radicals R1, R2, R3 and R4 have corresponding meanings is used as an intermediate substance for synthesis of 1-alkyl-2-quinolone. Method of its synthesis involves interaction of compound of the formula (II) 
 where radicals R2, R3 and R4 have corresponding meanings and a method of synthesis of 1-alkyl-2-quinolone of the formula (III) 
 where radicals R2, R3 and R4 have corresponding meanings by interaction of quinoline derivative of the formula (IV) 
 where radicals R and R have corresponding meanings with alkylating agent R1-X-X where R1 and X have corresponding meanings followed by oxidation of synthesized compound. Synthesized compounds were used as inhibitors of enzyme 5-lipoxigenase. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis. 6 cl
