FIELD: criminalistics and judicial expert examination. SUBSTANCE: method involves investigation of object by formal plan using sign method matrix, location of individual characteristics of signs of object undiscernible by sensory perception, and recording of typical signs in respective cells of matrix simultaneously indicating technical facilities used during examinations that do not leave traces and do not change qualitative characteristics of object, as well as their mode of operation. Information about detected signs is recorded at information redundancy of at least 0.5. EFFECT: 100% reliability of short-time identification of lost object without leaving traces on object nor changing its qualitative and quantitative characteristics. 3 cl, 4 tbl
