FIELD: fire-fighting, particularly to suppress fires in industrial and other large building having arched floor structures and column-like load-bearing members.

SUBSTANCE: method involves delivering liquid to fire site in fire-extinguishing mode and in cooling mode with the use of fire alarm system. In the cooling mode liquid is supplied by separate hydraulic monitors after 30-60 sec of liquid delivering in fire-extinguishing mode in which liquid is fed to structural load-bearing members and equipment. Automatic fire-extinguishing system comprises fire alarm system, fire-extinguishing and cooling liquid supply devices. Fire-extinguishing and cooling liquid supply devices are made as hydraulic monitors having barrels provided with horizontal and vertical pointing drives and electronic control unit. The control unit includes memory means, which provides serial supply of cooling liquid to structural load-bearing members and equipment. Pressure sensors and pumps are installed in supply pipelines near hydraulic monitors to regulate pressure of liquid at hydraulic monitor inlets. The pressure sensors are arranged in pipelines between pumps and hydraulic monitors.

EFFECT: optimized mode of structural member cooling, reduced material damage from fire and excessive water poured out for fire extinguishment.
