FIELD: heat power engineering; cooling water towers for cooling circulating water in power generating stations and industrial plants. SUBSTANCE: cooling water tower, mainly small-size one, has housing 1 with stages 8 and 9 installed in tiers. Water distributor 10 is placed between sprinkler stages 8 and 9. Nozzles 11 of sprinklers are pointed upwards. Mounted in lower portion above fan 2 is shell 12 with blades 14. Fairing 15 with conical surfaces 16 (to deflect air) and 17 (to deflect water streams into ring collector 5) is placed above shell 12. Direction of curvature of blades 14 is opposite to direction of rotation of fan 2. Sprinkler upper stage 8 is made up of vertically oriented cellular polymer prisms, and lower stage 9 is made up of horizontally oriented prisms. Water trap 18 is made in form of cellular polymer prisms oriented horizontally and arranged in tiers. Placed above prisms is grid 5 formed by rectangular cells whose height is equal to 0.5-0.25 of cell perimeter. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities, enhanced reliability. 5 dwg
