FIELD: heavy-current electronics. SUBSTANCE: method consists in application of pulses of voltage of definite length, amplitude and recurrence rate to electrodes of gas discharge which leads to rise of efficiency of gas discharge as source of radiation and to increase of intensity and brightness of radiation in visible region of spectrum. Practical testing of invention demonstrated wide possibilities of proposed method, especially with reference to short-arc gas discharges (short-arc radiation sources).
