FIELD: heavy-current electronics. SUBSTANCE: method consists in application of voltage pulse of definite duration, amplitude and recurrence rate to gas discharge electrodes which leads to increase of efficiency of gas discharge as source of radiation and to rise of intensity and brightness of emittance in ultra-violet and infrared regions of spectrum. Practical use of invention showed wide possibilities of proposed method, especially when applied to short-arc discharges (short-arc sources of radiation).
