FIELD: technical testing of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: parameters of vibration of the engine are measured. Flat closed curves are formed according to these parameters by means of visualization unit, the curves are compared. Vibrational acceleration is measured directly at cylinder unit at the point, which is disposed at the level of crankshaft at maximal distance from it at transverse direction at the side of output end of the shaft. Tangential component of acceleration of the unit is selected from vibrational acceleration signal by means of digital low frequency bandpass filtration. The component is proportional to angular velocity of the crankshaft. Operation of cylinders and engine in total is judged from visual observation according to degree of compactness of flat closed curves, represented at visualization unit.
